Abstract

This work presents a comparative balance of diverse factors that set the stage for describing the development of the Guatemalan cultural history, as well as proposing different paths and possible scenarios for this historiographic area in this particular Central American country. To this end, the article intends to clarify the concepts of “history”, “culture”, and “Guatemala”, in order to better understand the progress, setbacks and irresolutions encountered not only in the investigation field but also in addressing the problems of the Guatemalan cultural history.
