Abstract
The author analyzed a set of poems which were published in several Puerto Rican masonic journals during 1883- 1887, to evaluate how those may had promoted a “dominant reading” of the principles associated to Modernity during the Nineteenth Century in Puerto Rico. Information about the journals, including their history and biographical data about their publishers is presented in the paper. For this research effort, primary documental sources of the Sovereign Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Puerto Rico were used, in addition to the abovementioned period’s journals.Comments
