Resumen

El presente artículo tiene por objetivo problematizar la noción de flecha del tiempo, distinguiendo entre teorías que permiten definir una orientación temporal y teorías que podrían explicar su origen. En ese sentido, se argumenta que es necesaria una explicación no circular de la direccionalidad, distinta de criterios operativos basados en procesos asimétricos. Se lleva a cabo un análisis que permite reconstruir la estrategia que hemos llamado desde procesos, con la cual se ha abordado el problema de la flecha del tiempo (esto incluye la vía boltzmanniana, el papel del Stoßzahlansatz y la Past Hypothesis como condición de contorno). Se muestra que la segunda ley de la termodinámica permite ordenar los procesos de manera que podamos definir un antes y un después, pero que la irreversibilidad efectiva depende de supuestos asimétricos o de contorno que introducen la orientación. Se concluye que, con el estándar epistémico propuesto (no circularidad e independencia de procesos), no hay todavía una teoría de la flecha del tiempo, puesto que existen definiciones operativas y racionalizaciones estadísticas o cosmológicas, más no una fundamentación de origen.
