Abstract
We present an 88 years-old male patient, with treated type 2 diabetes and hypertension, resident of a nursing home, who came to our hospital for mental status impairment. The clinical assessment showed evidence of upper intestinal tract bleeding and abdominal distension, as well as clinical and laboratory findings suggesting intestinal ischemia. An urgent mini-laparotomy was performed in the emergency room and it showed massive colonic distension, so the patient was taken to surgery room for the appropriate and definitive treatment.Comments
