Abstract
The present supplement unveils the three suites for piano solo by Ricardo Ulloa Barrenechea, written in different periods of his production: the first dated in 1953 (just two years before graduating from the Royal Conservatory of Madrid in 1955) and the others during the 1970s, when he was already settled back in Costa Rica. The musical styles, compositional schemes and technical development make them important points of reference in the history of pianism in Costa Rica, since, to date, no works had been written using these elements in his writing, which can well be identified as avant-garde in the country at that time.
