Abstract

The doctrine of pre-established harmony is given an interpretation in terms of mathematical equivalence. This has three advantages: it is eminently clear and fruitful; it was assumed by Euler, one of the foremost heirs of Leibnizian thinking; it is at the very least part of what Leibniz seems to mean.
