El primatólogo y la filósofa: tres ideas que comparten Frans de Waal y Mary Midgley

Abstract

This paper explains the following three similarities between the thought of primatologist Frans de Waal and philosopher Mary Midgley: (a) rejection of Hobbesian contract theory, (b) emphasis on altruism in both the human and non-human animal realms as a basis for human ethics and (c) defense of anthropomorphism in observations of feelings and behavior in non-human animals.
