Abstract
The analyses of the founder of Amauta magazine, the Peruvian José Carlos Mariátegui, were accurate as to the emergence of fascism in Italy and beyond. After the Great War, Mariátegui was in Italy in the early 1920s, in an undercover exile imposed by the government of A. B. Leguía.
