The Smile of Jameson: (Fredric Jameson 1934—2024)

Distinguished Emeritus Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Marxist Literary Group (MLG), formed around the influence of Fredric Jameson, and later of the Latin American Subaltern Studies Group. Until 2020, he was co-editor, along with Sara Castro-Klarén, of the series Illuminations: Cultural Formations of the Americas for the University of Pittsburgh Press. His recent books include The Failure of Latin America and On the Limits of the Field, a collection of his essays on Latin American literature. His best-known book is his introduction to and edition of Góngora’s Soledades for the Clásicos Cátedra series.
