Abstract
We describe here three upper cheek teeth o fthe proboseidean Rhynchotherium blicki (Frick, 1933) from the Herreria Formation (fluvio-lacustrine sediments) along the Carboneras River in eastern Guatemala. This fossil indicates a late Miocene (early Hemphillian) age, about 7-8 Ma. This is the oldest fossil mammal known from Guatemala, and an additional occurrence of Rhynchortherium blicki outside previous reports of Honduras and El Salvador.Comments
