Abstract
The feeding habits of the fish Microrhrissa congica were sludied for a year in ¡he upper Congo river basin, by monlhly analysis of stomach contenls of adult specimens (N= 460). The nymphs of chironomid midges represenled the bulk of ¡he diet throughou! mos! of (he year, although terrestrial insects became more abundant in the rainy season. Niche breadth also increased in the wet season. This species feeds mainly in the water column and benthos is not an important food source.
