Abstract

Three recent lists of snakes from Panama are commented. These lisIS differ in the number and composition of species. The number of snakes listed ranged from 125 to 135. Arguments are presented to explain the elimination of sorne species. Hence, it is concluded that only 125 species of snakes have been formaIly recorded in Panama
