Abstract
A filarial worm, Oswldofilaria medemi n. sp., obtained from the
thoracic wall of an adult Colombian caiman, Paleosuchus tigonatus (Schneider, 1801) is describd. The new filaria differs from all other species of the genus by the long oesophagus and by differences in size and shape of the spiculae in the
male. Micoflariae could not be found in the blood of sixP. trigonatus.
