Resumen
Varias ecoformas de corales posilopóridos, identificados y reconocidos como especies por J.W. Wells, se compararon con base en 28 características cualitativas y morfométricas. Se elaboraron dos dendrogramas de distancia que señalan claramente la presencia de tres grupos: el primero reconocido como Pocillopora damicornis (Linnaeus, 1758), incluyendo en él una ecoforma; el segundo grupo conformado por P. capitata Verrill, 1869 con una variedad correspondiente a P. capitala var. robusta Verrill, 1870 y el tercero que, a pesar de tener una alta similitud entre sus integrantes, permite diferenciar dos especies, P. elegans Dana, 1846 y P. eydouxi Milne Edwards y Haime, 1860.
