Las inflorescencias y flores de Anthurium denudatum y Philodendron radiatum se interpretan aquí como un pseudocapítulo carnoso que evolucionó a partir de una espiga por reducción de internudos, engrosamiento del raquis y pérdida de apéndices estériles. En general la inflorescencia de P. radiatum se considera más evolucionada con respecto a A. denudatum por mostrar características más avanzadas; el estambre laminar de P. radiatum es una especialización que responde a presiones adaptativas del medio.Citas
