Abstract
This paper studies the emergence and characteristics of the Women's Party (여성의당) in South Korea, founded in March 2020. The aim of this article is to inquire on the treatment of gender issues from the institutional-electoral field. The proposed approach contextualizes the new party in the broad social framework of gender demands, the participation of women in the political system and the development of the feminist movement, especially cyberfeminism. For data collection, journalistic information, specialized literature and a selection of websites were used, including the party's official website, https://www.womensparty.kr/, The Women's News and databases. It concludes by arguing that the creation of the Women's Party arises in the context of the lack of response to the historical claims of women, that it is supported by the growth of the feminist movement and that it emerges as an innovative and creative element in a traditional political system.
