El objetivo del deporte amateur y el sentido de la competencia en la formación social

Resumen

INTRODUCCIÓN: El deporte amateur ha sido históricamente concebido como un espacio de formación integral, orientado al desarrollo de valores, habilidades sociales y hábitos de vida saludables. Sin embargo, la creciente centralidad del resultado y de la lógica competitiva ha generado tensiones que afectan su función educativa. PROPÓSITO: Reflexionar sobre el objetivo del deporte amateur y el sentido de la competencia en los procesos de formación social, analizando su doble carácter como herramienta formativa o factor de distorsión. METODOLOGÍA: Se realizó un análisis conceptual sustentado en aportes teóricos y estudios provenientes principalmente de la psicología del deporte, la sociología de la educación y el enfoque del Desarrollo Positivo de la Juventud. RESULTADOS: El análisis permite identificar a la competencia como un dispositivo central de socialización cuyo carácter formativo depende de la interacción entre las prácticas de los entrenadores, la estructura de los sistemas competitivos, la cultura institucional y las condiciones pedagógicas en las que se desarrolla la práctica deportiva. CONCLUSIÓN: La competencia no debe ser eliminada ni reducida en el deporte amateur, sino reorientada y resignificada desde una perspectiva sistémica que articule estos factores y favorezca el desarrollo integral de los jóvenes.
