The validation of the improved cultivars EAP-

comparing them to the local control Rojo Chiricano (MD-
3075) on 500 m2 plots in five localities of the province of
Chiriqui, Panama¸ during the period from October 2001and
February 2002. The average yield of the variety EAP-9510-

control by 12%. The farmers preferred the line EAP-9510-77
