Focus and Scope
The Journal publishes articles in the following types:
- Scientific articles: No more than twenty five (25) pages.
- Literature reviews: No more than twenty five (25) pages.
- Original essays: No more than fifteen (15) pages.
- Biographical analysis, awards and tributes to distinguished educators: No more than fifteen (15) pages.
Peer Review Process
Arbitration system
Revista Educación only receive items that meet the theme and format and described. Items that do not meet these specifications will be returned ad portas.
Each scientific article, literature review and essay received will be reviewed by two evaluators (external peers), with the form of "double-blind"; that is to say, the (s) of person (s) author (s) will not know (n) about the (s) dictate and evaluators will not know the authorship of the articles to arbitrate.
During the arbitration process, both individuals as evaluators authors are anonymous. To achieve this condition, any name or information that induces the identification of individuals will be deleted from the documents that the Journal will send to each party.

Results of evaluation
Who will rule, as appropriate, issue any of the following errors:
• Article is rejected.
• The publication after the suggested comments were incorporated recommended.
• Publication of the article is recommended.
If there is no consensus among the evaluators, the item is subject to a third, to allow your judgment to decide if it is published or not.
final opinion
The opinion makes each evaluator will be discussed at a meeting of the Editorial Board, which shall give the final opinion.
Final Adjustments
If the article is approved with corrections, the (s) of person (s) author (s) (s) must forward it to the recommended settings. These will be verified by further screening for people who read the first time.
If corrections are not made within the specified time, the item will be published in a subsequent issue.
Citations and references
Only this section must use the current edition of APA format. Previously APA 3rd ed in Spanish was used. In July 2021, the APA 4th edition in Spanish or APA 7th edition in English, begins to be requested for the publications of 2022.
Duration of the evaluation process: approximately one month.
Periodicity
Biannual. The first issue is published in January and runs from January to June; the second issue is published in July and runs from July to December.
Call for papers
The call for papers is open from January 1 to 31 and July 1 to 31.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Be an open access journal, implies that all content is freely available without charge to the user or users, or institution. The users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, and search the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or author for educational purposes and not for profit.

Objective. The aim of the Revista Educación of The University of Costa Rica is to disseminate scientific research and promote academic reflection referred to Education.
Recurrence. Biannual. The first issue is published in January and runs from January to June; the second issue is published in July and runs from July to December.
Languages. Receive articles in Spanish and English.
Free. No submission charge, processing or publishing articles. No APC (article processing charges).

Descriptors: Provides coverage to a wide variety of themes: access to education, the right to quality, better learning, teaching conditions, epistemological reflections, learning methods, basic education, formal education, informal education, gender, among other.
Open Access Policy. This is an open access journal, which means that the content can be accessed freely and without cost to the user, user or institution. Assignment of copyright. For acceptance of the article (s) of person (s) author (s) yields (n) to Education Magazine for their reproductive rights-including print and electronic media internet-free, exclusive and indefinitely.
Agree (s) to work in collaboration with the Journal, for the item to be set by the editing team, according to the "Guidelines for Submitting Articles" established and published in the official website of the Journal http://revistas.ucr.ac.cr/index.php/educacion. This guide provides procedures, formatting, proofreading, editing, translation, publication, editorial process duration and other requirements requested in the legislation concern. This assignment must be in writing.
Ethics Policy and Plagiarism Detection
This corresponds to the control of the ethics of publication. The magazine will ensure that the editorial team, the review team and individual authors meet the ethical standards required in the publishing process.

To detect plagiarism, this journal uses the Turnitin software, wich calculates the percentage of similarity with other sources and must not exceed 30%.
If a high percentage of similarity is detected, disciplinary actions established in the Ethics and Good Editorial Practices Policy, will be applied.
- All articles submitted to the journal Education must be original and unpublished. That is, to be self-authored and markedly different from any other document published previously or is under review by another journal or publication medium.
- By signing the declaration of originality and the transfer of rights, the author ensures that the person writing is original, is not plagiarized, and has not been published elsewhere. [1]
- A maximum of one manuscript by the same author, will be published in each issue of the journal.
- Article submitted must respect the privacy of individuals involved in the investigation, including confidentiality and consent.
- The results should be presented clearly, honestly and without fabrications, falsifications or mishandling of data.
- Those authors, in those items that apply, must present the methodology of their research in a clear and unambiguous so that the results can be confirmed and analyzed by the scientific community.
- Publications derived from a single research project, thesis or second part of a previous article, must be clearly identified to recognize the primary publication to which reference is made.
Duration of the entire editorial process: approximately six months.
