Abstract

For the practice of nursing in surgery rooms, the assessment of pain in children becomes essential to provide quality care and to meet the needs of both the infant and the family who is facing a situation beyond their control. everyday reality, where not everyone has the necessary tools to cope with this process. The purpose of this protocol is to compare the effectiveness of the Wong-Baker pain scale with the subjective assessment of nursing for the proper management of postoperative pain in school-age children undergoing orthopedic surgery. The design is based on the steps of Evidence Based Clinical Practice, by reviewing the best available evidence from databases such as Pubmed, MedlinePlus, Joanna Briggs Institute and Cochrane, in the last 10 years.
