Abstract

This essay re-examined the debate about the relevance of having medical practices and health policies based on evidence. Beyond the traditional visions regarding the concept of evidence -in which this word is taken as an statistics data synonymous- it is proposed the importance of having access to qualitative visions of the information required by clinic and public health practitioners. In social contexts characterized by the cultural diversity, these visions will be more than welcome. Our wellbeing is part of a complex sociocultural world, that we need to understand based on different knowledges, including those based on qualitative research and mixed methods.
