Research Articles

Research articles are scholarly texts intended to present findings and results from research supported by empirical evidence. They must employ pertinent analytical and conceptual frameworks, along with relevant methodological tools from political science and related disciplinary or interdisciplinary approaches. These manuscripts should be rigorously argued and well-structured, with a maximum length of 10,000 words, including footnotes, bibliography, abstract, tables, and descriptions of figures.

In exceptional cases, the Anuario del Centro de Investigación y Estudios Políticos (Anuario CIEP) may publish theoretical contributions aligned with its areas of interest. To be considered, such texts must present a problematizable argument and a critical stance by the authors, offering an original and distinctive conceptual or analytical development that goes beyond a mere overview of existing ideas within disciplinary or interdisciplinary debates.

All articles will undergo a preliminary review by the Editorial Team, which will assess the thematic relevance of the manuscript and its adherence to minimum quality standards. Once this initial screening is passed, the manuscript will be submitted to a double-blind peer review process (see Peer review procedure).

The Anuario CIEP regularly issues calls for papers with the aim of promoting academic explorations focused on relevant and/or emerging areas of knowledge. Articles submitted as part of these calls will be organized into Thematic Sections, and a single issue of the journal may include multiple sections of this kind.

Documents

Documents are written texts with a maximum length of 8,000 words, including footnotes, tables, and figure descriptions. They may consist of conference proceedings, essays, institutional papers, interviews, or other writings of significant research value. All documents must be thematically aligned with the focus areas of the Yearbook. These contributions are prepared exclusively at the request of the Editorial Board, and this section is not subject to peer review.

Book reviews

Book reviews include manuscripts that offer an analysis of published books addressing topics relevant to the field of political science and related disciplinary or interdisciplinary approaches. Their maximum length shall be 3,000 words, including footnotes, bibliography, tables, and descriptions of charts, maps, and images. These texts will not undergo peer review but will be subject to editorial evaluation by the Editorial Team.
