Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy
Revista Estudios operates under the University of Costa Rica’s Framework for the Governance and Management of Artificial Intelligence, the reason why it will only accept uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) adhering to the principle of Intellectual Honesty, which states: “Demand practices of verification and cross-checking: any relevant claim derived from AI use must be corroborated with reliable sources, traceable data or verifiable evidence, particularly in reports, evaluations, publications or community interventions” (2026, p.35).
To this end, the use of AI tools will only be accepted for the generation of searchable and verifiable data (tables, graphs) or for the inclusion of figures. Manuscripts presenting any level of AI employment in the capacities specified above, during any stage of elaboration, must detail and declare such use inside the Author Publishing Agreement. The following must be specified for the declaration of use:
- Artificial Intelligence tool employed (model and version)
- Specific utilization purpose
Revista Estudios will not accept work listing Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) as author or coauthor under the orienting principles of academic integrity and the preservation of human autonomy from the University of Costa Rica’s Framework for the Governance and Management of Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, the use of GenAI is not recommended for manuscript style revision.
