Abstract

This paper studies the thematic and research trajectory of the Center for Geophysical Research (CIGEFI) of the University of Costa Rica based on the analysis of the most-repeated words in the summaries of its publications while also uses Word Art website as a tool in both Spanish and English. The permanent relevance of Atmospheric Physics is evident, together with a geological component (volcanology and seismology) during the first two decades, this relevance was reduced because of the transfer of Geology researchers to other units and research centers. From the 1990s onwards, there was a growing link with the Social Sciences attributable to the opening of the Social Studies Program of Science, Technology and the Environment (PESCTMA). CIGEFI's publications have been in line with its mission, which establishes its specialty in geophysical phenomena with a multi, trans and interdisciplinary specialization.
