Abstract

The study scope is to analyze the incursion of women in the First Republic Power in Costa Rica from 1949 to 2022, from a gender perspective. This is a descriptive research, under the qualitative analysis approach, establishing from a gender approach
as an epistemological framework. Data collection was documentary. It is concluded that the struggles against political discrimination have led to changes in legislation and greater participation and representation of women in elected positions such as deputies, but the road is not yet complete.

    Costa Rican. PhD in Instructional Technology and Distance Education. Master's degree in Educational Evaluation. Master's degree in Educational Administration. Bachelor's degree in Civic Education. She currently works as director of the Environment, Politics, and Society Department at the State Distance Education University (UNED) and professor at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). Her recent publications include co-authorship of Teaching Strategies for Promoting Independent Learning in University Students Using LMS Platforms (2019). Her areas of interest include peace education, distance education, history, and geography.

  • Gabriela Villalobos Torres, Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED), Sabanilla, Costa Rica.

    Costa Rican. Pursuing a PhD in Gender Studies. Master's degree in Domestic and Gender Violence. Bachelor's degree in Social Work. She currently serves as the director of the Social Work Department at the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) and as a professor at the same university. Her recent publications include co-authorship of Teaching Strategies for Promoting Independent Learning in University Students Using LMS Platforms (2019). Her research topics include human trafficking, violence, gender, and distance education.
