Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text has spacing 1.5; the font size is 12 points; italics are used instead of underlining (except for URL addresses); and all the illustrations, figures and tables are within the text in the place that corresponds to them and not at the end of the document.
  • The author agrees to assign his publication rights to the journal, retaining his rights of authorship, which includes being able to publish his article in a personal website or institutional repository, but not in another indexed journal. The author will mention in his blog that the article was published in the magazine if it is a postprint version. If it is pre-print it is recommended to indicate it.
  • Wimb Lu is authorized to disseminate the article published on the websites, databases and indexes where it is indexed, as well as submit the article in various formats (pdf, html, xml, epub, others) to give it greater visibility.
  • Text complies with the the bibliographic and style requirements indicated in the Rules for authors
  • If you are submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, you need to ensure that the anonymity instructions have been followed.
  • Web addresses and full doi links have been added for references where possible.
  • The file sent is in Microsoft Office for Windows or OpenOffice format. An additional pdf can be attached to check the location of tables and figures.
  • The petition has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted to another indexed scientific journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the editor).
  • The authorship will declare if there are conflicts of interest in the preparation of the article submitted for publication.

PUBLICATION RULES

Wimb lu,  Electronic Journal of Students of the School of Psychology of the University of Costa Rica, informs authors interested in publishing their work, the formal requirements that the Editorial Board establishes to be able to accept all those articles , essays and monographs that are subject of publication in the Journal

Wimb lu has been created as an scientific electronic journal in which active students of the University of Costa Rica, graduates in the process of completing their Final Graduation Work, and professionals in the field find the possibility of publishing and disseminating their discoveries, advances and ideas in subject of Psychology. The articles can be scientific, theoretical and reflection studies, without any restriction due to their modality, as long as the basic formal criteria of an academic journal are respected.

All published works pass to the online collection of the Wimb lu Electronic Journal from the moment they are approved by the Editorial Board; however, the moral rights of authorship and distribution of pre-print or post-print by authors in their personal sites, blogs or sites of their academic institutions or repositories are not lost. Zenodo repository is recommended. Also to share open research data.

All articles published here will be unpublished and will be supported by the ISSN code of the Journal, in order to protect the authorship rights. Authors (as) must grant authorization to Wimb Lu to disseminate and share the articles published in databases where the journal is indexed, as long as it does not imply commercialization. They also authorize to derive different formats of presentation of the article such as, pdf, xml, epub, html or others.

Each article will have two evaluations. The first, in charge of the Editorial Board, will observe the formal aspects of the document, respect for spelling and writing standards and internal coherence. The second reading, in charge of a specialist of the Advisory Council, will analyze the conceptual and structural clarity of the writing (double blind external peer review system). Any modification made to this process, which implies the omission of one of these stages or the revision by an external collaborator to both instances, will be according to the Editorial Board's desision.

 The editor is responsible for the publication of article retractions in qualified cases. The publication of errata is also allowed.

Drafting documents Articles written in other languages (English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, etc.) will be received but we recommend to be reviewed by experts in the respective language.

MS Word 2010 or higher files for PC environment. Format 8.5 by 11 (letter size).

Margins of the paper 3 cm for the sides (left and right) and 2.5 for the upper and lower (top and bottom).

The Header and the footnote must include a margin of 1.25 cm.

Ttles. Font type Times New Roman 16, in bold and centered. Do not use full title in capital letters or small caps.

Author data. Font type Times New Roman 14, aligned to the right.

Subtitles first level. Type font Times New Roman 16, in bold and centered. Subtitles second level. Times New Roman 16, bold, left aligned. Subtitles third level. Times New Roman 14, regular, left aligned.

Body text. Type font Times New Roman 12.

Notes. Type font Times New Roman 10.

Line spacing of 1.5 lines. Complete justification. Spaces between paragraphs will not be used. At the beginning of each paragraph, indentation will be included.

Number of pages in the lower right corner. The figures and tables will be interspersed in the text in the corresponding place within the body of the article.

Extension of the writing: from 5 to 30 pages maximum. The order that the document must carry is as follows:

Concise title but that illustrates the central theme of the writing. It is recommended not to use abbreviations in this section.

Author data sheet (confidential use) If more than one person, each must provide the data requested. The order in which they are presented must obey the degree of participation they had in the preparation of the writing. In the case of equitable participation, the alphabetical order will be preferred. All this should go in the header of the article, right margin, three spaces below the title and include the highest academic degree, job title, email and a telephone number if so authorized (this last data will not be published). Likewise, they may include ORCID or REDALYC ID.

Foot note. Relevant information can be included as the course in which the work has been carried out (if applicable), the recognition of teacher supervision (if applicable) or the support of a collaborating institution or research center.

AbstractYou must specify the basic aspects of the document. In the case of scientific articles, it must contain the topic, main objective, mention of the methodology, results and main conclusion. In essays and monographs it will include the topic, objective, discussion, general conclusion or main result of the reflection. The abstract should contain a maximum of 200 words. Text of the article. It should be divided into sections according to the nature of the document: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions or those other sections that are considered relevant. At a minimum, an introduction to the topic, the development of the content and a conclusion must be provided. Studies with people, patients and volunteers require an informed written consent (attached as an annex to the document) and must be specified in the working text. Any confidential information that serves to identify the people participating in the investigations should be omitted.

The titles of the parts, sections and subsections should not be closed with period. Two spaces must be left between the end of a part or a section and the beginning of another part or section; and a space between subsections.

A space should be left between the title line and the next paragraph.

The enumeration of examples, in case it is done, must be indicated by the lowercase letters of the Latin alphabet, or in Arabic numbers in the event that the examples exceed the possibilities of the Latin alphabet, followed by a period and followed.


Bibliography The way in which sources should be quoted must follow Chicago Deusto. To the best of your ability , it is requested to record the full names of authors consulted so as not to omit their gender. The paragraph format for bibliographic references will include the use of French indentation.

 The tables should appear numbered with continuous Arabic numerals and enunciated with the word "Table", respectively, in Times New Roman 12, regular. This heading and the title of the table should appear centered on the top of this.
    
The figures, likewise, must appear numbered and enunciated with the word "Figure" in Times New Roman 12, regular. This heading and the title of the figure should appear centered at the bottom of the figure.
     
The mention of notes, figures or graphics must be highlighted with a marker.

The images of the articles must have a backup in a separate file, the digital format of these must be psd, jpg or tiff and must be provided in a resolution of 200 dpi.

If photographs or illustrations of authors that are less than 70 years old are used, the corresponding written authorization of the owner of the rights will be necessary.

The Editorial Board will acknowledge receipt of the work delivered and will report within a maximum period of six weeks on the status of the article as it passes through the various stages of the evaluation process. Failure to comply with any of the requirements specified here as Publication Norms will imply the return of the writing until it meets the required requirements.
