Abstract
This article triangulates the concept of successful aging, with the so-called Blue Zones and three real-life stories from people over 90 years of age in the Blue Zone in Guanacaste. It is understood that indeed much of what is seen in the theory of the Human Development, in terms of successful aging, coincides with what is known as a Blue Zone (named by Dan Buettner) and what the interviews with subjects who are currently 90 years old or older and are from Guanacaste indicate. The article makes a clear call for attention not only to maintain physical health habits such as eating, exercising and sleeping; but also to try to build quality social bonds from now, making sure that they transcend the current vital stage to become a support in older adulthood. This will clearly help to successfully navigate that stage.
