Professor at the School of General Studies and the Postgraduate Program in Literature at the University of Costa Rica. Doctor in Hispanic Literature and Theory of Literature from the University of Navarra, he has been appointed Humboldt Professor 2019.
His publications include 4 books and more than fifty articles published in collective books and specialized magazines. He participates as a speaker in his specialty at national and international congresses and colloquiums. His areas of interest range from colonial literature, the Golden Age, Cervantes, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and the Viceregal brief theater.
