Abstract

Due to market evolution and the impacts of globalization, the requirements of people with expertise in Logistics have drastically increased. This growth in the demand for logistic professionals has made it vital to increase the supply,  training, and education for professionals on the subject. The School of Industrial Engineering at the University of Costa Rica has been working for eight years in changing the curriculum to include courses with new topics regarding Logistics. Considering that teaching should be a dynamic process, it is intended in this article, through a systematic survey, to collect the voice of  441 students who have taken the Logistics courses from 2007 to 2014.  All the aforesaid in order to assess the perceived quality of the teaching process they underwent and their current situation in the labor market. From the study, it was possible to determine that the perception of 99% of the respondents regarding the perceived quality ranges from “Excellent” to “Good.” Also, it allowed prioritizing the thematic proposal which includes the recommended teaching strategy. From profiling the participants in terms of their employment status, it was identified that more than half of the graduates who exercise their profession are involved in the logistics area. So, it was possible to understand the new requirements for the Logistics courses while seeking educational innovation and continuous course improvement.
