Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The letter of acceptance of conditions has been completed. It must be signed physically or digitally by all authors.
  • A copy of the identity card, national identification card or passport of each of the authors of the manuscript must be included.
  • All images or figures are attached as separate files (.jpg, .jpeg, .tiff, .png) with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  • The text must comply with the bibliographic (APA 7 citation format) and style requirements indicated in the Author Guidelines. Ensure that web addresses have been added for references where possible.
  • The submitted manuscript file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format, with letter-size pages with normal margins (2.5), 1.5 line spacing and Arial font size 12.
  • The request has not been previously published, nor has it been submitted to another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • All illustrations, figures and tables should be in the text in their proper place and not at the end.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts should be submitted in accordance with the following guidelines:

Basic Aspects of Content

a. The document submitted must be an original, unpublished work. In addition, it must not be simultaneously submitted for publication in other journals or editorial bodies. The aforementioned will be a reason to remove the article from the editorial process.

b. The treatment of the topic and its content must be of interest in the Humanities.

c. The work must show due academic rigor in the methodological approach, in the use of pertinent information and in the precision of the object of analysis.

d. Preference will be given to multi-, inter- and trans-disciplinary work of interest to a broad audience and the humanities.

e. The wording should be clear, precise and definitive, without abusive use of specialized

vocabulary specific to a particular field. Inclusive language should be used when necessary, according to the Guidelines for gender-inclusive language in English.

f. You should not use specific word processor commands to list notes or bibliography. These sections should be included as part of the text.

g. We accept submissions of articles in Spanish, English or Portuguese.

 

Basic Aspects of Form

a. The order of presentation of the article should be as follows:

a.1. Title in Spanish, English and Portuguese: in the title in Spanish and Portuguese, the initial letter of the first word must be capitalized; in the English version, the initial letter of each noun must be capitalized.

a.2. Authors duly identified: name, surname, institutional affiliation or place of work, institutional e-mail, ORCID code, city and country.

a.3. Abstract in Spanish, English and Portuguese: it should have a minimum length of 150 words and a maximum length of 200 words. We recommend using the program DeepL for translations of abstracts into other languages.

a.4. Key words in Spanish, English and Portuguese: a minimum of three and a maximum of five should be used. All these words must be standardized in the UNESCO Thesaurus.

a.5. Text or body of the paper: it is essential that the following sections are included.
* Introduction: This section should point out and explain the methodology used.
* Development: may include one or more sections with varied titles.
* Conclusion: The results should be analyzed, discussed and an appropriate closure to the manuscript should be made.
* Notes: it is up to the authors to determine if this is a necessary section.
* References: should be presented according to the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th. Edition in English or APA 4th Edition in Spanish.

b. All sections of the manuscript should be numbered as follows, in order to facilitate the reader's understanding of the structure of the article:
1. Part One
1.1 First section of part one
1.1.1 First sub-section of the first section
1.1.2 Second subsection of the first section
1.2 Second section of part one
2. Second part
2.1 First section of part two

c. The length of the article should not exceed 22,000 words or 40 pages in length, single-spaced, including citations and notes, in Arial font size 12, without page numbering.

d. For charts, graphs, tables, figures and others, the following should be taken into account:

d.1. They should be cited in the text in correspondence to the information presented (example: "See Table 1").

II.d.2. They must be sent in editable format to adjust them to the visual presentation maintained by the journal. In addition, they must be sent in .jpg, .jpeg or .png format with a minimum quality of 300 megapixels per inch and their titles must be editable.

d.3. In the case of graphs, the title of the axes must be indicated. This should be centered, in bold and with initial capital letters, while the indication of the source should be centered, not bold and with initial capital letters.

e. It should be indicated in a separate section if any of the following situations are present: the research for the manuscript was financed by an institution, databases that are not in the public domain and were not created by the author are used; it should be specified that the respective permission for use has been obtained.

 

General Aspects and Warnings

a. The Editorial Board informs those interested that the fact of confirming receipt of manuscripts does not imply their acceptance for publication, since the opinion of this body is necessary to link the relevance of the manuscript with the objectives of the Revista humanidades.

b. Materials are considered submitted from the date on which the author sends the complete submission of his/her material, that is, when his/her submission complies with all the guidelines specified on the Journal's website. The signature and sending of the letter of acceptance of conditions imply that the applicant knows and accepts all the guidelines mentioned above. Until the complete application is received, no material will begin the editing process.

c. All materials are submitted to a double-blinded peer review process, with reviewers external to the publishing institution, both foreign and national, except for reviews.

d. The Revista humanidades does not charge for the reception, processing and/or publication of the articles submitted.
