Résumé

Cette recherche explore les perceptions de 95 bilingues émergents de niveaux de compétence variables à l’égard de l’interférence de l’anglais avec la prononciation espagnole dans une série d’enregistrements. L'étude a examiné l'impact de la maîtrise de l'espagnol auto-identifiée par les participants dans les dimensions de la grammaire, de la prononciation et de la capacité générale en espagnol sur les évaluations positives et négatives de ces enregistrements avec différents degrés d'accent étranger. Les résultats ont révélé que même si la compétence auto-identifiée n’avait pas d’impact significatif sur les évaluations des enregistrements, le groupe à haute compétence donnait généralement des notes plus positives aux enregistrements. Cependant, des différences significatives ont été constatées entre les évaluations des enregistrements sur les attributs positifs et négatifs. Ces résultats suggèrent que la perception de l’accent dans la langue seconde constitue une caractéristique notable de l’expérience du bilingue émergent. Ils suggèrent également une relation entre les niveaux de compétence linguistique, soulignant l’importance de prendre en compte la compétence lors de l’interprétation des opinions sur les niveaux d’accent étranger.
