Stanhopea ruckeri Lindl. is new interpreted and so reestablished. The name S. inodora is trans- fered to its synonymy, because of investigations in the Lindley Herbarium. Stanhopea gibbosa auct. is found to be not identical with the holotype of S. gibbosa Rchb.f., so it was necessary to describe it as a new species. Because of the confusion around its identity, it is named S. confusa
