Resumen
Introducción: El exceso de peso en los individuos a nivel general y/o abdominal, son indicadores importantes en la ocurrencia de enfermedades crónicas, por lo que, su determinación contribuye de forma imponente en la salud pública, a fin de controlarlo o reducirlo en bien de la población. Objetivo: Establecer la relación entre variables antropométricas de riesgo para enfermedades crónicas en usuarios de un centro de atención primario. Metodología: La investigación fue cuantitativa, analítica, retrospectiva por las fuentes de datos y transversal. Se investigaron 1149 usuarios atendidos en el Centro de Salud Patrona de Chota, Perú. Las medidas antropométricas por sexo y edad, se extrajeron de la base de datos del establecimiento de salud. El análisis estadístico bivariado se realizó mediante tablas cruzadas con frecuencias absolutas y relativas, Tau-c de Kendall y Rho de Spearman, con p<0,05 de significancia. Resultados: El 52,2% tenían sobrepeso u obesidad, el 64,3% perímetro abdominal elevado o muy alto, la conjunción del IMC y perímetro abdominal elevados estuvieron en el 44,8% de usuarios, en 26,4% de jóvenes, 61,8% de adultos, 24,4% de adultos mayores, 51,3% de mujeres y 27,9% de varones. La relación entre medidas antropométricas fue estadísticamente significativa (p<0,001). Conclusiones: La relación entre variables antropométricas de riesgo para enfermedades crónicas fue estadísticamente significativa en todas las relaciones establecidas, lo que denota un alto o muy alto riesgo de adquirir enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles en los usuarios, por ello, la masificación de actividades preventivo-promocionales en estilos de vida deben incorporarse en la cartera de servicios de salud.
