Digital Preservation

The ALP Journal implements multiple digital preservation mechanisms to guarantee the integrity, accessibility, and long-term conservation of scientific articles, from the original version submitted by authors to the final version published on the OJS platform. To this end, the following strategies are applied:

Local Storage: All manuscripts are secured on the journal's official computers as well as that of the Editor-in-Chief, in both editable (Word) and PDF formats.

External Backups: Periodic backups of the files stored on the journal’s computer are performed using cloud storage units, specifically through Microsoft SharePoint, linked to the Editor-in-Chief's official account and accessible to the CICAP technical team.

Institutional OJS System Backups: The University of Costa Rica’s institutional servers perform automatic and periodic backups of the OJS platform, thus ensuring the preservation of the final published version of all articles. Furthermore, the Revista Científica Administrar lo Público is included in the PKP Private LOCKSS Network (PLN) digital preservation system. This system helps guarantee that the journal’s content is preserved even in the event of a catastrophic failure of the server where the journal is hosted.

Institutional Repositories: All articles are deposited in the Kerwá university repository (https://www.kerwa.ucr.ac.cr/home) as well as in the National Library of Costa Rica.
