Submission Preparation Checklist
- The document is original and unpublished, and has not been previously published, nor has it been presented in another journal.
- The file sent is in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word
- The document has letter-size pages and default margins (top and bottom 2.5 cm. Left and right 3 cm) and Times New Roman 12 font type, with 1.5 spacing.
- The graphic elements are duly identified with the names figure, graph, map and table. They are also mentioned in the body of the text with Arabic numerals.
- The text complies with the APA 7th edition citation standards and the formal aspects indicated in Guidelines for Authors.
- The document includes title, summary and keywords in Spanish and English, according to the Formal Aspects indicated in Guidelines for Authors.
- Web addresses have been added for references where possible
Artículos
This section groups the scientific-academic documents that meet the thematic lines of the journal. These manuscripts are submitted to the double-blind review system.
The maximum length is twelve thousand five hundred (12 500) words.
It must include the title, abstract, keywords and references. For more specific requirements, please refer to the formal aspects in the guidelines for authors.
Dossier
Dossier [peer review]
This section publishes a set of articles of a scientific-academic nature that correspond to a particular thematic axis, which must be in line with the areas of interest of the journal.
The dossiers will be proposed by a guest editor, who must send the written proposal to the journal's management in order to be taken into account as part of the publication calendar. The proposal for a thematic dossier must contain the following elements.
- Name and affiliation of the responsible editor(s)
- Thematic line of interest
- Tentative title of the dossier
- Preliminary index with the title of the articles and their respective authorships
Once the proposal is assessed and approved, the editor of the dossier must comply with the following requirements:
- A minimum of five (5) articles must be submitted to propose a thematic dossier. There is no maximum restriction on the number of articles.
- The dossier must include, at least, 30% of international authorship articles.
- All articles must comply with all the guidelines for authors.
- All manuscripts must be submitted with their respective uthorization Letter to Publish Original and Unedited Work (CAP)
The guest editor will be in charge of gathering the articles, verifying that they comply with the requirements and submitting the papers to the journal within the deadline established with the Management for such purpose.
The editorial team of Estudios will be in charge of the editorial process once the thematic dossier has been received.
All articles in the thematic dossiers will be submitted to blind peer review, according to the standards of the journal.
The beginning of the evaluation process conducted by the editorial team is subject to the complete submission and compliance with the publication guidelines of the Estudios journal. The acceptance of the documents does not guarantee their publication.
Bibliography reviews
In this section we publish critical and reflective comments on a recently published work related to humanities in general.
Manuscripts submitted for this section do not require an abstract or keywords.
The title of the review does not require a translation. It must follow the format of the bibliographic reference of the annotated work, as follows:
Roberto Marín Guzmán. (2018). Local wars and international confrontations: the roads to the unification of Italy in the nineteenth century. University of Costa Rica Publishing House. (230 pp.).
The maximum length of reviews is six thousand (6,000) words.
The use of quotations is left to the decision of the review's author. In case of incorporating them, they must comply with the APA 7th edition style.
Reviews are assessed by the management and editorial team. They are not subject to blind peer review.
Biographies
In this section we publish works that examine the history of a person or institution related to the humanistic field. These works gather and synthesize elements of historical value for the areas relevant to the journal.
Manuscripts submitted for this section do not require an abstract or keywords.
The maximum length of the biographies is five thousand (5,000) words.
The use of quotations is left to the decision of the author. In case of incorporating them, they must comply with the APA 7th edition style.
Biographies are evaluated by the management and editorial team. They are not subject to blind peer review.
Lectures
En esta sección se publican conferencias ofrecidas recientemente sobre temas afines a la Revista Estudios.
El texto postulado para esta sección no requiere resumen ni palabras clave. El título de la conferencia debe ser traducido al inglés. Inmediatamente después del título debe indicarse la fecha y el lugar en el que fue ofrecida la conferencia.
El uso de citas textuales queda a discreción de la persona conferencista. En caso de incorporarlas, deben apegarse al estilo APA 7ma. edición.
Las conferencias son valoradas por la dirección y el equipo editorial. No son sometidos a revisión por pares ciegos.
Todos los manuscritos deben ser enviados con su respectiva Carta de Autorización de Publicación Original e Inédita (CAP).
