The cultural heritage of Colonia Nievas, Argentina: an analysis of its sociocultural sustainability

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the actions aimed at enhancing and ensuring the
sustainability of the cultural heritage of Colonia Nievas (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
during the 2021–2025 period. The research adopts an interdisciplinary approach that integrates anthropology and social communication. The methodology is qualitative, based on an ethnographic design. The main findings highlight the sociocultural sustainability of heritage through concrete context-specific policies of participatory and community-based management.

She currently works as an Assistant Researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), as well as a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of the Center of the Province of Buenos Aires (UNICEN). She is co-author of Heritage, Identity, and Memory: The Creation of the Digital Photographic Archive of Mining in the District of Olavarría, Argentina (2025). Her areas of interest include social communication, cultural heritage, and the sociocultural sustainability of heritage in the central region of the Province of Buenos Aires.

Among her publications is Community Perceptions of Cultural Heritage in the City of San Luis, Argentina (2024). Her areas of interest include social anthropology, intangible cultural heritage, and public policies in intermediate cities in the central region of the Province of Buenos Aires.
