COLONIALISM AND SKATES, BIKERS, AND RAGGAS IN LIMÓN

Abstract

This article tries to explain how colonialist relationships in the province of Limón are reproduced despite permanent collective resistance. The focus is placed on the options offered to young people within the capitalist system to develop life projects through migration, ethnic resentment, criminality and criminalization. The groups of Skates, Bikers, and Raggas are the example to explain how those aspects model youth cultures and how masculinities are built
