Abstract
This article pretends to answer why the party system collapsed in Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. This complex question has a multi-causal answer; however, three assumptions will be developed: i) institutional designs; ii) crisis of political representation and iii) role of the parties in the government. In this context, it can be noticed multiple scenarios, where the conjectures interact. Despite the different realities of the countries, it will try to identify similarities and differences in political processes. In the end, potential new scenarios can be found without trying to give a forecast, but to continue the debate.
