Abstract
This article highlights the subjective experience of forced relocation of the habitants of
Finca San Juan, headed by the state in 1992. This paper examines how the impoverished
people of Pavas managed the difficulties of the symbolic appropriation of the space to
which they were assigned. As a result, three patterns of resistance were identified: antisocial
behaviours as a form of inclusion, the acceptance of their fate as a form of non-resistance
and the construction of their community as a form of care of the self.
