Abstract
This article analyzes, from the Critical Discourse Analysis perspective, the global
discourse semantic sub-strategy of self-presentation, part of the global strategy of
self-legitimation, as used by La Nación, a Costa Rican newspaper, which utilizes this
sub-strategy as a resource in their struggle for symbolic power, within the context of
certain political scandals in 2004.
