Abstract
The objective of this text is to reflect on the professional challenges that Social Work faces as a profession whose intervening nature places it in a scenario of profound transformations in social policies from the 1980s. Through a historical analysis of the characteristics general process of capital accumulation, specifically from the impact of the structural crisis of the late 1970s, and its derivations in social policies, the challenges faced by the profession within the framework of social relations in which acquires its legitimacy as a profession.
