Abstract
The definition of a role and social status is fundamental in people’s lives, but these intrinsic social representations can change with the arrival of old age. The role and social status of Mazahua senectes from San Felipe del Progreso, State of Mexico, was analyzed from an ethnography carried out in the year 2022, with which a tendency towards their loss in the study group was detected, linked in a directly with their situation of poverty and dependency, expressing itself in different forms of abandonment, exclusion and discrimination.
