Abstract
In this paper are discussed the central ideas for an research program about the construction of the personal identity in the adolescence, in the costarican sociocultural context. The discussion is in a double theoretical perspective. First, in the perspective of metatheoretical principles of the life-span developmental psychology. On the other hand, in the perspective of a cultural psychology of communication and language. Both are linked in the study of personal identity like a theoretical category and a psychological process guided by the subjectivation process. The personal identity construction is related to relationships of distance and vicinity between adolescence and adulthood.
