La educación superior centroamericana en contexto de construcción de espacios comunes del conocimiento / The Central American higher education in context of construction of common spaces of knowledge

Resumo

El presente artículo ha sido elaborado como ponencia para el II Encuentro de Rectores de la Red de Universidades Iberoamericanas UNIVERSIA, realizado en Guadalajara, México, los días 31 de mayo y 1 de junio de 2010. Este es un artículo de investigación bibliográfica en torno a aspectos centrales de la educación superior centroamericana, en contexto de globalización y de sociedad del conocimiento, con apoyo igualmente en diversas fuentes teóricas. La investigación realizada se hizo con la finalidad de identificar los problemas, desafíos y oportunidades que la educación superior pública centroamericana tiene ante sí y que ha venido afrontando durante los últimos años. De igual manera, se identifican algunas de las principales acciones desplegadas por estas instituciones, en calidad de respuesta institucional e interinstitucional, a escala nacional y regional. Tras la elaboración del artículo, este fue abierto a debate mediante su colocación en la página Web de UNIVERSIA; debate en el cual participaron académicos de universidades de España y de distintos países de América Latina. Las valoraciones hechas por estas personas fueron tomadas en cuenta para la elaboración de la versión definitiva del artículo. Se concluye que la incorporación de las universidades públicas de Centroamérica a los espacios comunes del conocimiento, ahora en perspectiva de construcción extrarregional, requiere una heurística de relaciones interinstitucionales solidarias y basadas en la reciprocidad de iniciativas de colaboración conjunta.

This article has been prepared as a proposal for the II meeting of Rectors of the Latin American Universities UNIVERSIA, held in Guadalajara, Mexico, last May 31st and June 1st, 2010. It is a bibliographic research on the core aspects of the superior education in Central America, in the context of globalization and society knowledge, with the support as well of different theoretical sources. The investigation was made with the propose of identifiying problems, challenges and opportunities that the superior education has been facing in the recent years in Central America. It also gathers and identifies the main actions taken by the entities as a institutional and inter-institutional response to the problems found in national and regional escale. After the elaboration of the article, it was posted in the UNIVERSIA official Web page to open and allow the discussion. The debate was enriched by the participation of researchers and professors from different universities from Spain and Latin America. The input provided by them was considered for the final version of the article. As a conclusion, it was agreed that the incorporation of the public universities of Central America in common spaces of knowledge, with a regional perspective, requires an heuristic initiative of interistitutional solidary relationships based on mutual collaboration.
