Peer-review and Publication Process

The review process of the Revista humanidades is carried out through a double-blind peer review system. The private data of the reviewers and authors will be reserved in order to avoid conflicts between the parties. It starts from the moment the application has been completed, complying with all the guidelines, and lasts from 8 to 12 weeks. This process consists of several stages, which are detailed below.

1. Initially, the documents are received by the journal's editorial team, who verifies that the document uploaded to the platform complies with the requirements specified here for the submission of articles. In this review, it is analyzed that the document complies with the following stipulations:

a. Comply with the requirements requested in the instructions for authors, in particular the delivery of the Letter of Acceptance of Conditions duly completed and signed, and the sending of images of the identity document with photograph and signature.

b. Present clear and understandable writing, with a logical structure of ideas, the APA 7 citation system in English or APA 4 in Spanish.

c. No problems of plagiarism or duplicate publication.

d. If the document presents figures or images, they must also be provided in separate files in .jpg, .png or .jpeg format and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

Authors are encouraged to rigorously review these aspects prior to submission. If the manuscript is considered to fall seriously in one or more of these aspects, the document will be rejected. This process will take no more than 30 working days.

2. Once compliance with the guidelines has been verified, the editor-in-chief sends the article to the Editorial Board, which will perform an ad portas evaluation. If this opinion is favorable, the material is sent for external peer review, using the double-blind arbitration system.

3. In this process, three reviewers external to the editorial institution of the Journal, both foreign and national, experts in the subject of the article, read and analyze the manuscript to determine its quality and validity as a publishable work. The specialists have a maximum time of two weeks, from the moment they accept to review the article, to analyze and review the article, evaluate it with the parameters indicated by the journal and add specific observations. In this evaluation, the reviewers must indicate an opinion according to the evaluation form provided by the journal and from which the following decisions will be made:

a. Recommended for publication

b. It is recommended that it be published in accordance with the following observations

c. Pending publication (document needs significant rethinking)

d. Do not publish

Once this analysis has been completed, the article and its evaluations are sent to the editor-in-chief. This process can take between 4 or 5 weeks. As the opinions are received, a certificate of participation is issued and sent to each external reviewer.

4. Based on the three evaluations and the inputs generated, the Editorial Team will make the decision: if the article is publishable, publishable with changes, publishable with profound changes or if it should be rejected. If it is accepted, the documents will be returned to the authors, with the purpose of including the observations and recommendations made by the evaluators and the Editorial Committee within 15 to 22 days. If the paper is not submitted on time, its publication will be moved to the next issue. If the Board's decision is not to publish the article, this will be communicated to the author with the necessary feedback so that he/she can implement the suggested corrections and possibly submit the manuscript to another academic journal.

5. When the author submits the manuscript with corrections, these will be verified by the technical editor. If the document still does not meet the requested corrections and quality standards, it will be sent again until the document is ready according to the requested criteria. This second return may imply important delays in the publication of the manuscript. It is therefore recommended that the corrections are fully complied with in the first submission.

6. Once the author has submitted the final version of the manuscript with the comments of the reviewers incorporated, the manuscript will undergo a philological and formatting review and then continue with the marking process.

7. The marked manuscript will be sent to the author for validation. The author will verify that the data included in the final version of the article are correct. Authors who so require may request proof of publication letter of their manuscript, once it has been validated. Subsequently, the editor of the journal will make a final revision of the manuscript. With the approval of both parties, the manuscript will be scheduled for publication in the next issue.
