Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out what are the effects of leisure physical-sport activity on the perception of their own health by rural adolescents. The study examined 1109, 10 to 16 years-old rural Spanish students. We used the Self-Administered Physical Activity Checklist questionnaire. Statistical analysis was developed through descriptive and inferential analysis and to the 2 test. The results demonstrated differences in the self-rated health based on sex, age and amount of daily leisure physical activity. Boys have better health perception than girls. Elementary school students expressed being healthier than secondary students. Elementary school students and male students are more physically active. Furthermore, we have observed that the organized physical activity has depended on the self-perception of health, as well as the number and duration of weekly exercise sessions.
