Resumo
Os usuários de academias são vulneráveis à desinformação nutricional. O objetivo foi descrever conhecimentos e práticas em nutrição esportiva de praticantes de academias de Magangué e sua relação com fontes de informação. Foi utilizado o Questionário de Conhecimento Nutricional para Atletas Jovens e Adultos (NUKYA) e coletados dados sociodemográficos, alimentares e fontes de informação. As relações foram analisadas por meio de tabelas de contingência e teste qui-quadrado (X2). Participaram 87 usuários entre 18 e 30 anos; 51,7% tinham conhecimento deficiente em nutrição esportiva. As principais fontes de informação foram familiares, amigos e parceiros de treino (26,4%). Observou-se consumo insuficiente de frutas, verduras, alimentos proteicos e água, embora a maioria relatasse consumo adequado de leguminosas. Um bom nível de conhecimento em nutrição foi associado ao maior consumo de alimentos proteicos (X2 Pearson = 5,78, p = 0,016) e água (X2 Pearson = 4,24, p = 0,040), bem como ao menor consumo de leguminosas (X2 Pearson = 3,95, p = 0,047), bebidas isotônicas, refrigerantes ou sucos durante o treino (X2 Pearson = 12,4, p = 0,006) e alimentação após o treino (X2 de Pearson = 8,82, p = 0,003). Além disso, o uso de fontes de baixa qualidade foi associado ao menor consumo de frutas (X2 Pearson = 8,35, p = 0,004), verduras (X2 Pearson = 4,09, p = 0,043) e água (X2 Pearson = 4,40, p = 0,036). Conclui-se que a qualidade das fontes de informação influencia o conhecimento e as práticas alimentares, sugerindo educação nutricional baseada em evidências para esta população.
