Resumo

Objetivos. Desenvolver diretrizes australianas sobre atividade física e exercícios durante a gravidez e o período pós-parto. Projeto e métodos. Revisões críticas "guarda-chuva" das evidências científicas, combinadas com a adaptação de diretrizes publicadas recentemente. Essa abordagem em cinco etapas incluiu: identificação dos principais documentos de origem (incluindo diretrizes nacionais de atividade física/exercício e conferências de organizações profissionais, publicadas a partir de 2010); revisão narrativa das evidências relacionadas aos 27 resultados de saúde; resumo das evidências; desenvolvimento de diretrizes preliminares e informações de apoio; e revisão e consulta para finalizar as diretrizes. Resultados. A revisão de evidências constatou que a atividade física/exercício durante a gravidez e o período pós-parto é segura, traz benefícios à saúde da mulher e do feto e pode reduzir os riscos de algumas complicações relacionadas à gravidez. Foram desenvolvidas quatro diretrizes principais, que incentivam todas as mulheres que não apresentam complicações na gravidez a: (1) cumprir as Diretrizes Australianas para Adultos sobre Atividade Física e o Sedentarismo antes, durante e depois da gravidez; (2) modificar as atividades para acomodar as mudanças físicas que ocorrem com o avanço da gravidez; (3) fazer exercícios para o assoalho pélvico durante e após a gravidez; e (4) assumir um papel ativo na tomada de decisões em conjunto sobre sua atividade física/exercício durante e após a gravidez. A revisão também identificou sinais de alerta e contraindicações para atividade física/exercício durante a gravidez. Conclusão. Todas as mulheres grávidas ou que planejam engravidar devem estar cientes dos benefícios da atividade física/exercício, e os profissionais de saúde devem promover níveis seguros de atividade e estar familiarizados com as contraindicações, sinais e sintomas que sugerem que a atividade física/exercício deve ser modificada ou evitada.
