The objective of this study is to contribute to the discussion on fertility in Costa Rica. Data was obtained from a critical essay, the content of which was subjected
to qualitative analysis using Gemini Advanced 2.0 Flash and MAXQDA software. Regarding opinions on not having children, concerns were identified related to the high costs of raising children, the significant time and responsibility demand, as well as structural challenges such as job insecurity and economic uncertainty. On the
other hand, those in favor of parenthood view it as an opportunity to leave a legacy, experience forms of affection associated with unconditional love, and contribute positively to society.
