Abstract
From a theoretical approach which includes dialectal, lexicographical, cognitive, and sociopragmatic aspects, the following article analyzes items, simple or multiword units, from the lexical subcomponent of Costa Rican Spanish, specifically, the names of animals that, while representing part of the lexical stock of Spanish in general, are rooted to the Costa Rican variety, having experienced a process of metaphorical creation, with differential and contrastive implications from other communities that hold Spanish as an element of cohesion and cultural identity.Comments
